Lady Duff makes it four in a row

Sardar Singh trained Lady Duff[profile] recorded her fourth successive win by easily claiming the F K Irani trophy, a sprint race for horses rated 80 and above, the feature event of Saturday`s races. Jockey Suraj Narredu stole the limelight with a quadruple. The F K Irani Trophy is named after the former Chairman of Mysore Race Club who steered the club as its head with distinction. Lady Duff was well placed to strike and considering the fact that the progeny of Burden of Proof possessed sparkling acceleration, it was difficult to look beyond her to win this event as the others were not top notch sprinters. And quite expectedly, Lady Duff took over the running within the first furlong and then sped away form her rivals to record a facile win by over three lengths over top-weighted Atlantus[profile] who has proved to be a consistent performer after taking an eternally long time to come out of the maidens` ranks. The well performed Noble Guest who has changed stables and who was running for the first time during the season, moved up well form the rear position, along the rails to be in contention for a slot in the frame but was beaten to the fourth spot in the final strides of the race by Cart Wheel[profile]. It was Suraj Narredu`s day as the talented jockey who was astride Lady Duff, was successful on three other horses. Irfan Ghatala trained Tsavorite[profile] was set to take on a backward lot of horses in the 1200 metres KROA Trophy, a terms race for three-year olds. Tsavorite had no problem in checking well clear of Astounding Gallop[profile]. One Life To Love who came in for spirited support in the ring, sent distress signals approaching the final bend and finished dismally.

Suraj rode out favourite Marie Curie[profile] who held off the belated charge of Snow Peaks[profile] by quickly assuming charge on turning for home and then lasting out the rest of the trip in front. Glitterato[profile] has always belied expectations. Backed to the exclusion in the 1400 metres Harangi Plate (Div I), the favourite faltered close home, allowing the well backed Lowndes Square[profile] to record a narrow win. Bucephalas[profile] hung in and jockey David Allan had considerable difficulty in keeping him going. After being switched out, Bucephalas finished on strongly to be a close third. Sriram Komandur trained Brigade`s Pride[profile] had no difficulty in trouncing the opposition in the lower division of the race in the opening race of the day to start Suraj on a win spree. Brigade`s Pride tracked Youre A Legend into the straight and then left the field stranded to win by a distance. Ganapathy trained Ready to Mingle made good the misfortune of well backed Romance In the Air to record victory in the M Galastaun Memorial Plate, a race for horses rated to 40 to 65. Regal Ransom shifted in abruptly and bumped Romance In The Air[profile] and the horse in turn scraped the paint from the rails resulting in the jockey losing his right stirrup leg. The jockey tried to get his leg back in the stirrup but in the process, he had to lean heavily on the left which resulted in the horse taking the turn wide and also causing the saddle to shift out. As a result, Chisty could not offer much assistance despite which the second favourite finished a shade less than three lengths behind the fully ridden out Ready To Mingle who had assumed charge at the final turn. The lack of control on the part of Raja Rao is something that the authorities need to look into. Interferences of any nature should be dealt with severely. Trainer Warren Singh trained Buck Passer Junior[profile] who showed out in the paddock parade, slammed the opposition in the Ranganathittu Plate, a race for horses rated 20 to 45. Dark Horse was disputing the issue with Stagelight when Buck Passer showed up on the wide outside and in a trice, went clear. Dark Horse ran on to finish second ahead of Sunny Connexion
