Alcestis should be a safe bet

Alcestis should oblige on the basis of her last run The progeny of Alnasr Alwasheek dragged herself to prominence last time out. If the connections are in earnest, she should easily oblige. Lush Lashes has been consistent and she can benefit incase of any infraction on the part of the favourite. Amazing Queen who is a full brother to Noble Princess, is still being persisted over a five and half furlong trip and one does not understand the logic.

Six Shooter who found Forest Flair too hot to handle is another worthy of consideration. The speedy daughter of Six Speed was attemping a quantum jump last time out. Now that she is back in modest company, she can shine. Nox should run prominently though she may find Six Shooter difficult to beat.

The Spartan who runs best when the ground is hard, can benefit from the fact that it hasn't rained for quite some time.

Gysy Magic is so well placed that she should win the Summer Million. But if she continues with her erratic pattern, D'Artagnan can profit from it. I don't think Leonardo who finished a close second in the ColtsTrial Stakes can reproduce what appears an one-off effort.

    Hi there, I think I got to see you at the race course while you were escorting a bunch of 4 up the elevator in the Member's stand (and I was at the water cooler). Kind of cool to see the man whose choices are very important before I make up my mind on a bet :-)

    I did not have as great a day as I would have liked though, managed to pick the exactly wrong bets in Alcestis and Six Shooter.

Villoo Poonawalla’s death leaves a void in racing

Villoo Poonawalla’s death last Tuesday has caused a big void in racing world. Being the wife of one of leading faces in Indian racing, Dr Cyrus Poonawalla, she was easily the most recognizable person in horse racing at Pune and Mumbai. She was a great racing enthusiast and was instrumental in Dr Cyrus Poonawalla keeping a substantial number of horses to race in his colors. Rajan Bala, one of a rare kind

One of the finest cricketer writers that India has seen, Rajan Bala, passed away in Bangalore on Friday (October 9) after brief illness. He was truly an inspirational journalist for a generation of sports writers in the country in a career spanning about four decades. I began my career as a sports journalist in Deccan Herald of which he was the Sports Editor. I worked under him later in Indian Express as well though at that time he was stationed in Chennai. He then moved to Mumbai and also had a stint with an eveninger.
